Getting tickets for a Portsmouth FC game is straightforward most weeks, but the biggest fixtures at Fratton Park sell out fast. Portsmouth And’s writers have put together a practical guide to buying Pompey tickets without being caught out.
Where to buy
The official place to buy is the club’s own site at portsmouthfc.co.uk, or in person at the ticket office at Fratton Park. Buying direct from the club is the only way to be sure a ticket is genuine, and we would steer well clear of resale sites, where prices are marked up and entry is not guaranteed.
Season tickets and membership
Many Fratton Park seats are held by season-ticket holders, which is part of why single-game tickets can be scarce. If you plan to go often, a season ticket is far better value than paying game by game, and the club also sells a paid membership that brings earlier access to tickets and, usually, a priority window for the hardest games to get into.
Why games sell out
Pompey regularly fill nearly 21,000 seats, so demand runs ahead of supply for the standout fixtures. For the highest-demand games the club often uses a loyalty-points system, selling first to supporters who have attended the most matches. The practical lesson is simple:
- Buy early, as soon as a game goes on general sale;
- Build loyalty points if you want the big derby and cup games;
- Check the club site rather than gambling on the turnstile.

Away and neutral tickets
Tickets for Portsmouth’s away games are sold through the club rather than at the opposition ground, and they too can be points-based when the allocation is small. If you are a visiting supporter coming to Fratton Park, your tickets come through your own club’s ticket office, and you will be seated in the Milton End.
Prices and concessions
Prices vary by game category, by stand and by age, with concessions for seniors, young adults and juniors, so the club’s ticketing pages are the place to check the current bands rather than relying on a fixed figure. Matchday prices are usually higher than booking in advance.
Getting in on matchday
Fratton Park is about a 10-minute walk from Fratton station, on Frogmore Road, PO4 8RA. Turnstiles open ahead of kick-off, and with limited parking nearby the train is the simplest way in and out.
Sort your ticket in advance, arrive in good time, and you can give all your attention to the only thing that really matters once you are through the turnstile, roaring Pompey on.
